St. Felicitas Parish invites you to explore the joy of living the Christian life in a faith community. We offer a year round opportunity to join others in this process. The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the process by which adults are brought into full communion with the Catholic Church through the reception of the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist. The RCIA process is a restoration of the ancient catechumenate, arising within the first three centuries following the era of the apostles. It was restored by Vatican II as the means by which the Catholic community welcomes new members into the Church.
Participants include non-baptized adults who wish to learn about the Catholic faith, Baptized Christians from other denominations who are interested in learning more about the Catholic tradition, and baptized Catholic adults who were not raised in the faith or have not received First Communion and Confirmation. The Rite speaks of conversion as a “spiritual journey.” This progressive journey of faith takes place over a period of time suitable to offer catechesis and the experience of parish life. The distinct stages and rites of the RCIA process are celebrated with the parish community which is called to affirm that they are ready to help and support the RCIA candidates seeking to follow Christ.
